The scope comprised the clearing of the site, construction of extensions to the ash containment embankments (Approx 350,000m3), evaporation ponds, drainage, topsoil and revegetation works. AE mobilised a PC750 Komatsu excavator with 50T Komatsu dump trucks to excavate load and haul to the Dam walls, diversion bunds and spillways.
With material selection and management being the key requirement of the project to meet the strict quality assurance criteria, AE developed specific work methods and procedures utilising 50T Komatsu water cart, 825 Compactors and Cat 14G graders fitted with GPS to ensure quality compliance thereby achieving a successful outcome for the client.
