Project Approach & Objectives
Assess and manage staged construction to prevent the effects of weather events. Strict environmental and cultural
heritage guidelines were followed. Removal of existing parts of Western Levee and selective stockpiling of materials for
reuse in Stage 2 works.
- Excavation of 700,000m3 material along 3km alignment
- Install Rip Rap Rock Protection (2,500m2)
- Selective tree clearing and stockpiling of materials
- Revegetation of Creek overlay
- Construction of the Nth Western Levee Extension (1km)
- Removal of upstream and downstream earth plugs
- Detailed key in trenching
- General earthworks exceeding 5m in cut or fill
- Construction of zonal embankments to assist environmental management
- Placement and compaction of imported materials
- Material conditioning
- Extensive quality assurance management and testing for regulated structure
